There are no direct high-speed trains between Xi'an and Hohhot. If you want to shorten the journey duration on the train, you can consider transferring in Beijing.
Take a high-speed train from Xi'an to Beijing and then a high-speed train from Beijing to Hohhot. The total journey duration will be about 7 to 8 hours.
You can also consider taking a flight between Xi'an and Hohhot. In the shoulder season, one pair of flights operates between Xi'an and Hohhot every day and each flight takes 2 hours.
