Things to Do in Harbin in September

Chinese-Russian Market Area: For bargains and getting low prices for the Russian and Chinese products, this area of five cross streets with two large indoor markets is the best place to go. You'll find a wide variety of products, such as Russian furs, chocolates, vodka, antiques, and food delicacies from both countries. Be on guard against fake products. The shops are generally open every day from noon until about 11 pm.

The Mid-Autumn Festival: It's the second biggest holiday in China, and crowds of Chinese people go out to enjoy the parks and relax at the restaurants and Central Market Street. For 2/3 of the years, the holidays are in the middle or end of September. If it is near the October 1 National Day holidays, it becomes a part of a "golden week" of holidays. Try the local moon cakes that are made from the fruits and nuts of the season.

Harbin Central Market Street: This central shopping street is where you can sightsee, casually shop, dine and enjoy a summer walk.

This was part of the original city that was built by Russians and other foreigners a hundred years ago. The old buildings in the area make for good sightseeing, and you can also walk to St. Sophia Cathedral and Zhaolin Park nearby.

The pedestrian shopping street is more than a kilometer long and is lined with restaurants and stores and two malls. There are also two modern malls including the French Carrefour. There are Russian restaurants and other international restaurants.
