The famed 'sea of clouds' is caused by the warm moist air from the ocean rising up the slopes and cooling.

Clothing: We recommend light layers to adapt to changing conditions. Remember to take rain gear.

Hiking: You'll see the pinkish grey peaks decorated with red and yellow during a hike up in October. Be aware that it is peak season so there are big crowds when the weather is good. Fit hikers say the climb is moderately strenuous and takes three to four hours to the top. See our 4-Day Hiking Tour Package.

See Beautiful Autumn Leaves and Picturesque Villages

Tachuan is a small village at the foot of the Yellow Mountains famed for the beautiful colors in the countryside in late October. For a feast for the eyes, take a scenic walk to nearby World Heritage listed Hong Village, only 2 km or 1 mile away.
